after a summer of regaining strength & becoming healthy, I decided to take a break at the beach before summer ended. Little did I know that when I also decided to take a break from my computer & iPhone that the second issue of tinyfeet would be released! (http://tinyfeetmag.tumblr.com/thesecondissue#/) Like the first release, this sweet start-up of a doll magazine holds another interview with a dear friend, this time it is Romina who is interviewed of I Have Wings. (http://ihavewingsatelier.com/) Romina even shares a dress pattern in the magazine!!! The theme of this issue of tinyfeet is of fairytales & contains some incredible images, especially those magical images by Mirella von Churpek of her little yellow Lati Lea! (http://www/flickr.com/photos/vonchrupek/) But don't think that this magazine just covers one or two types of dolls! There are not only beautiful photos of ball joint dolls, there are also blythes, pullips, liccas & other dolls & crafted images in this magazine. Take a peek at tinyfeet, I am sure you will be rewarded with a smile!

Close - up of Kuma
I like how this little doll or keychain depending on how you look at it looks as if he/she is part of the DollyBird 14 craft book by using the outer cover as a piece of paper that lays over Kuma's box. I have now just ordered four other kuma's through ebay and Mimiwoo. She has two other keychains that I would like to add one is a green Kuma and one is a white Kuma and the whte Kuma has hair like this little fellow, but I don't want to spend anymore money right now as I may just want to go to effiethedal's new living quarters down in California since she is only out here for about a year. I know she will be coming to stay with me and is going to be at BlytheCon 2011, yet it just isn't the same as when you visit the other person especially one that exists where it will be warm through winter and close only a few blocks to the beach something that I so miss living here as both in Chicago and in Vancouver I could quite quickly get to water that you could not see the other side of...here there are no really great swim spots plus the river is so polluted.
I also went ahead and ordered some of the new petite blythe made by hasbro in the states, well not exactly petite blythe in the Japanese sense as they are called Littlest petshop Blythe loves Littlest petshop and while the eyes do not close like the petites made by takara in Japan, the head tilts 4 different ways and her legs seem to be made well I have heard from Supernenek. I love that Supernenek added me to the group without even knowing that I had ordered not just one, but two. I should get my first two hasbro blythes on Tuesday then perhaps I will purchase one more or several more depending on how I like them.

Time is a Funny Thing
I have so much time and so little these days. I now have beautiful Ikea shelves with glass door fronts to move so many of my ball joint dolls - my latis, my blythe and my momoko dolls onto the shelves and yet as I say that I have two shelves up inside and I see just how many miniature pieces of furnishings and dolls I have...! It would have been so much easier to have started with storage space first and to have added dolls and miniatures second, ah, but that is not the way it was to be...! So what will I do? I think I have decided to start going backwards. Does that sound odd to add the newest first to the shelves. What have I just received?, a beautiful momoko called puppy garden and mine has beautiful long flowing blond wavy ponytails on each side. I still a haven't taken a photo of her as she is still safely in the boxing she comes in.
As I play with my blythes more often and take them to blythe meets it does not seem as important to put them on the shelf first and yet they are what creates most of the mess downstairs in our living room and it is for just that reason I should move them onto shelves upstairs first. I also have container of clothes I am trying to sort. My dolls have better clothes than I these days.
As for my Latis, well Becky, Beth and Cherny all travel with me so they must always be ready to be on the go, but the most recent Latis - the unicorns although they have gone to a ball joint meet here in town, they are now ready to find a magical, mystical shelf to share with the magicians, just how I am to create this I do not know.
I know you are probably wondering about all these names if you do not know me especially since I have no photos posted on this page yet and I am just starting this blog, but if you would like to see photos of many of my dolls you can do so by going to flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/rhubsknit/ there at flickr except for my Momoko mentioned here you can find most of my Lati and my Blythe photographed.
Since this is the start of my blog I should mention that I have at least 3 dollhouses as well as old cardboard Barbie set ups and many other types of folding homes. But two of the doll houses are the types that you build, each is a different style. One is an English Tudor and the other is of course the Standard Victorian/Queen Anne style that gets meshed together somehow. Both are in need of work, but the Tudor already houses some of the German and Swedish doll furniture I collected when I was a child. You will find photos of each dollhouse on my flickr page although not under doll house I am afraid. This I believe is one activity I will do today and that is to create a dollhouse photo set on flickr so that even though the houses may appear in other sets with the dolls someone who goes to my flickr page can easily find my dollhouses. The other dollhouse I have is Madeline's meaning the doll and yes the character in children's books. I also have the dolls, both in cloth and in the size that fits in the doll house which is an 8" size which is a very good size too for some of my Latis. Enough for now have fun looking at some of my photos on flickr as you only have to join (and it's free) to look remember you can find me at http://www.flickr.com/photos/rhubsknit/ please note I own the copyright on all photos under my name unless otherwise noted. Thanks!

The Howlin Night...
So I sit here on a gray dingy old sofa with pale sky colored walls enclosing around me (keeping the dark night out) as I am in a very small room. In earlier times I believe it was a parlor as our house was built in 1872. Sadly few if any traces of that time are left in this house as it's rooms and their purposes have been changed many times to meet the needs of it's current tenants (Wouldn't it be nice if our leaders, our diplomats and for that matter all the people in our world as well as our animals could be as flexible as this house has been.) And while we may use the rooms in a slightly different manner now there is an attempt to restore pieces of Victorian structure back into this old house with just a hint of modern twist or functionality brought to whatever the current structural project is in this house at the time which I might say has been ongoing for at least 30 years!
As I sit here on the same old sofa typing away on my laptop in the middle of the night, I hear my eldest cat yowling loudly for something to drink from our bathroom water faucet. She does not like the kitchen faucet you must understand as one cannot control the amount of water coming from it so that it forms just the right amount of fine thread like falling water from a tap. She has also taught our youngest cat from the time he was a kitten to drink from the faucet too, but he has formed his own style. He does not turn his head just so like she does so that he will not get wet. Instead, he lifts one of his paws to the water and drinks licking his paw as the water runs over it, all this to the distain of my older female cat who of course feels she taught him quite the proper way. But I digress here as she is yowlin from the deepest part of her soul. She is not a mean cat rather she is a cantankerous cat a characteristic I hope to have when I am her age or older. Sometimes her howl works after all she is old enough and it is not that unreasonable request unless you are thinking of water and energy waste and consumption, then turning on the tap for an animal to slowly take little licks from is not so foolish. Meanwhile around me I have my dog; a black lab service dog who they say is a horse. He is trying to wade through the both the large and small boxes from Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea, Italy and Finland to come and rest by me. As I sit here among boxes and dolls, I cannot help but think how odd it is that although an adult now that there was a time when a child I was almost always a double spy running around my neighborhood. I revered trains be they large enough to ride all over the country on such as the Empire Builder, let alone the world or so small like the El train in Chicago, the Max train in Portland, the A train in New York. I adored trains of any type even a freight train and each of it's box cars enough to notice each cars details and numbers. I find it odd that a person who loved miniature trains so much in childhood should suddenly make the leap into the miniature doll world and beyond.
Is it really that big a leap? I dare say the Psychologist would say it is; as a child I must have needed to explore my male side though a female and only now am I finally exploring my feminine side might be said. But for me was it and is it a way to explore both worlds be they separate or not, a way to explore all the world's objects and a way I can create, observe and control these objects so completely on my own terms. After all I could create, explore and control-manipulate this small world of HO as a child and I can create, explore, control-manipulate the miniature furniture as an adult and are they not all objects of the world that I can explore completely under my control in petite size. Aren't the underlying currents both of my childlike world of creating miniature scenes of villages and trains - the outside world and now houses and the dolls that inhabit them - the inside world two aspects or two sides of the same coin and thus really the same hobby; the world in miniature both inside and out. Or is that outside then in...lol!
